Company Logo Design
The process of company logo design has changed dramatically over the years. Vendors and businesses have been using logos, in one way or another, since the beginning of time. In fact, in the distant past logos were used to communicate the differences between vendors to a mostly illiterate population. Today the company logo design is still used to set one company apart from another, though the logos are much more advanced than they were in the past.
There are many different ways to approach company logo design today, so if you are not sure what sort of logo your company should adopt you should know that there are a few different options for you to consider. For instance:
The Symbol Only Logo
This company logo design is just a symbol and it has no text with it. If you choose to go this route, you need to be sure that your symbol is really truly able to send a clear message of who you are and what you do to your target audience. When you stop and think about the logos that you see on a regular basis you will likely have a difficult time coming up with those that only use a symbol because they have become quite rare in the business world over the last few years. Can't think of a logo that could stand alone and still have an association with a product of business? How about the Rolling Stones lips?
Text Only Logo
Thinking of going the route of a text only company logo design? One company that is well known for their text only logo is Coca-Cola, but how many others can you think of that have just text? The reason for this is that text alone doesn't seem to jump out at the average consumer. This isn't to say that you couldn't create something awesome with the right font and effects, it just is not as common as some other types of company logo design options.
Text and Symbol Used Jointly
One of the most popular and often most effective company logo design options is the use of both text and a logo. Think the United States Post Office, AT&T, or even AOL. These are all logos that have a symbol and the text to clearly indicate who the business is and what their product will do for you. These are the logos that generally jump off a page, a billboard, or a storefront and get the attention of the consumer.
Text and Symbol Fusion
Like it or not, the first and last thing your visitors will see is your logo. When they think of your web site/business, they'll think of your logo. If it evokes a positive image in their head, they'll probably come back to your web site. If it doesn't, they'll probably never be back. This is where custom logo design comes in handy—it ensures that your web site has a logo that is memorable and attractive. It conveys the message of your web site quicker than any text can. And most importantly, it makes people want to come back.
Reason #5: It's Not a Fake, Bland Logo
Seen in the last several years are the company logo designs that fuse the text and the symbol together to create something that is fun and effective. Think of something such as Enron. This is a unique way to get both the symbol and the text into the picture so that it is a truly unique logo that will be identified and unknown by a target audience.
As you can see, there are a lot of choices in front of you when consider company logo design. Play with all of the ideas, but remember that the idea is to have something that will be noticed and clearly identified when it is seen by those who are familiar as well as not so familiar with your business, product, or service. You want people to recognize your logo, so get creative!
